How central is Hotel Jnterlaken?

Hotel Jnterlaken is in the town centre of Interlaken, at Höheweg 74 next to the Japanese Garden and the two churches. Interlaken Ost station is 500 metres or about a 5-minute walk away, Interlaken West station 5 to 7 minutes. Shops, restaurants, the Casino Kursaal and the Congress Centre are a few minutes away on foot.

Are Hotel Jnterlaken and Hotel Interlaken the same hotel?

Yes. «Jnterlaken» with a J is the historic spelling, which can be seen as lettering on the south side of the building. On booking sites the hotel often appears as «Hotel Interlaken». Both names refer to the same 4-star hotel at Höheweg 74, the oldest hotel in Interlaken.

Where is Hotel Jnterlaken located?

Which Interlaken train station should I get off at?

Get off at Interlaken Ost; the hotel is 500 metres or a 5 to 8 minute walk away. Walk towards the centre along Untere Bönigstrasse and Höheweg, and the hotel is on your left.

Is there a bus from Interlaken Ost station to the hotel?

Yes, bus 103 towards Interlaken West leaves Interlaken Ost twice an hour, at 18 and 48 minutes past the hour. Get off at the first stop, Drei Tannen; the hotel is directly opposite. The ride is free with the Interlaken guest card.

How much is a taxi from the station to the hotel?

A taxi from the station to Hotel Jnterlaken costs CHF 15 to 20. Taxis wait outside both Interlaken Ost and Interlaken West stations.

Does the hotel offer an airport transfer?

No, Hotel Jnterlaken does not run its own transfer service. You can find airport transfer providers at alpinbus.com.

How do I get to the hotel by car?

Take motorway exit 26, Interlaken Ost, and follow the signs to the station. Turn left before the station towards the centre; the hotel is on the left after about 400 metres.

Is there parking at Hotel Jnterlaken?

Yes, the hotel has a limited number of free parking spaces opposite on Höheweg and behind the building on Schlossstrasse. For the public car park behind the hotel, you can buy parking tickets here (CHF 10.00 for 24 hours) or use the parking app PayByPhone or EasyPark. The space directly in front of the hotel is reserved for loading and unloading luggage. Thank you for not parking there.

What is the Interlaken Pass?

The Interlaken Pass is the digital guest card for hotel guests in Interlaken. Once you have registered, it gives you free public transport in the area and discounts on excursions.

Is Hotel Jnterlaken a good choice for couples?

Yes. Several room categories have a double bed, many also a balcony. For special occasions there are the Romantique package (CHF 82 for 2 guests) and the Honeymoon package with a 4-course dinner at the Taverne restaurant (CHF 184 for 2 guests). The historic building, first recorded in 1323, and the hotel park offer a quiet atmosphere in the heart of town.

Is Hotel Jnterlaken suitable for families?

Yes. The Family rooms (26 m²) have two single beds and bunk beds for up to 4 guests, the XL rooms (34 m²) two single beds and a sofa bed. Children up to 7 stay free in their parents’ room. The breakfast buffet is included, and with the Interlaken Pass the whole family travels free on public transport in the region.

Is Hotel Jnterlaken suitable for business travellers and seminars?

Yes. The seminar room in the pavilion has daylight and access to the hotel park, can be divided into up to three rooms with sliding walls and holds up to 48 people in classroom style, up to 80 in theatre style. There is also the historic Gerichtsäli (former courtroom) for 14 people. Projector, screen, flipchart and pinboard are included; the day seminar package starts at CHF 87 per person. All rooms have a desk and free Wi-Fi, and Interlaken Ost station is a 5-minute walk away.

Is Hotel Jnterlaken suitable for solo travellers?

Yes. Solo travellers get reduced rates for single occupancy; current prices are shown in the online booking. The Tiny room (15 m²) with a double bed and the Small room with balcony (17 m²), also available with a double bed, are a good fit. Breakfast and Wi-Fi are included, and the central location means you do not need a car.

Is Hotel Jnterlaken a good base for excursions and outdoor activities?

Yes. From Interlaken Ost station, a 5-minute walk away, trains run to the Jungfraujoch, Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, and boats leave for Lake Brienz. Paragliders land on the Höhematte in the town centre. With the Interlaken Pass, buses and trains in the region are free, breakfast starts at 7 am, and you can leave your luggage at reception free of charge.

What is included in a stay at no extra cost?

The room rate includes the breakfast buffet, Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, coffee and tea in the room, and the Interlaken Pass with free public transport in the region. Also free of charge are the hotel parking spaces (limited number), luggage storage, borrowing umbrellas and adapters, and tennis at Tennisclub Interlaken with court, racket and balls, bookable at reception.

Booking, rooms and rates

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is from 3 pm and check-out is until 11 am. All guests complete the online check-in before arrival; you receive the link by email or WhatsApp.

How much is a late check-out?

A late check-out costs CHF 70 until 2 pm and CHF 100 until 4 pm. After 4 pm the full daily rate is charged.

Can I leave my luggage before check-in or after check-out?

Yes, reception stores your luggage free of charge on your arrival and departure day. The hotel accepts no liability for stored luggage.

What is included in the room rate?

Rates are per room per night and include the breakfast buffet, service, taxes and VAT. Wi-Fi is free as well.

Until when can I cancel free of charge?

Cancellation is free up to 2 days before arrival from November to April, and up to 5 days before arrival from May to October. After that the first night is charged; a no-show is charged the full stay.

Are extra beds available, and what do they cost for children?

Yes, an extra bed is available on request in the Large and XL categories. Children up to 7 stay free, the bed costs CHF 35 per night for ages 8 to 13 and CHF 50 from age 14.

Are pets allowed?

No, pets are not allowed at Hotel Jnterlaken. Assistance dogs are welcome.

Do the rooms have air conditioning?

No, the rooms do not have air conditioning, but the four-star rooms have a cooling system. It cools the room to at most 5 degrees below the outside temperature and is set on a wall panel.

Is there a lift, and are the rooms accessible?

The lift goes up to the 4th floor. Hotel Jnterlaken has 2 accessible rooms: 1 XL room and 1 XL room with balcony.

Is smoking allowed in the hotel?

No, the whole hotel is non-smoking, including the balconies and the restaurant. Smoking in a room or on a balcony is charged at a minimum of one night’s stay. You may smoke outside the restaurant, on the terrace and in the park.
